Borge Mogensen 2219 Sofabench

Produced by Fredericia Furniture in Denmark.

Designed and produced in the 1950’s this set very much follows Mogensen’s design ethos of creating comfortable and practical furniture. Over the years his designs have stood the test of time and are now appreciated for their clean and uncluttered lines. This of course was the vogue for Danish furniture throughout the 1950s where the start of the Mid Century Modern movement grew out of the Scandinavian countries at that time and concentrated on functionality and a move towards more linear design.

The back of  the sofa is so beautifully crafted that it’s a pleasure to see slatted back. As it looks great from any angle it means that they need not be placed against a wall so could be a freestanding set in the middle of a room.

It’s presented in very good vintage condition with a few marks to the frame as you would expect. However, the upholstery is in perfect condition since it is brand new.
